SEO Low Hanging Fruit

In the Search Engine Optimization universe, there is a phrase for grabbing quick and easy victories, Low Hanging Fruit.  There is a theory that targeting only these rapid results may yield positive and more widespread results.

The misconception of some is that low hanging fruit is not worthwhile.  Sure, in the fruit picking world low-hanging fruit may need to be left alone to properly ripen and so forth, but in the digital concept of this phrase, an apple is an apple.

By achieving multiple less popular search engine results the objective of exposure is still being met.  The ultimate goal remains the same, to eventually achieve total saturation of all related searches.  Take what you can when you can as efficiently as possible.  This means target low hanging SEO fruit.  There are numerous methods for determining what your low hanging fruit are, but basically the search volume of the terms will be small to not even on the charts yet.

A quick side comment … I used the word, “yet.”  This is to say, be proactive and create your own markets, or position yourself for success by knowing what is going to be popular tomorrow.

So, if you know that your site can grab some low hanging fruit, take it.  Build on what you get, and expand.  Essentially you are developing the markets of the less popular searches.  Actively work on content to accomplish this, and keep doing so, even when you are a solid #1 in these less popular SERPs.  When you phase into targeting primary keywords, continue to solidify your place with these low hanging fruit.

This is not an advanced SEO tactic.  However, establishing yourself with the low hanging fruit can be and should be a strong foundation which your competition will see but not understand … unless they are reading this article.
